Amy Kellow creator of Everybody Pilates has a passion for Pilates that has taken her all around the world. Striving to find the very best education that she can in 2011 she found herself at the doors of Vintage Pilates and Jay Grimes, 1st Generation Master Teacher and former student of Joseph Pilates. Amy completed The Works and then received an invitation to the inaugural class of Teaching the Works under the tutelage of Jay.

Amy believes that everyone should share in the brilliance of Pilates and ensures that all of her teachers at Everybody Pilates are taught by her and experience the very best in education. This ultimately filters through to all of the clients at Everybody Pilates.

Do you See What I See?

A Problem Solving workshop developed to train your eye and respond in the Moment.

In this 3 hour workshop we will look at how we make choices with the body in front of us – how we use the body scan to lead us into making decisions about what exercises to choose. You will learn to trust your instincts!

The workshop will start on the Mat Work – how as teachers do we teach an individual to get the most out of a private lesson on the mat. If we are teaching a group class how do we tackle these issues?

We will then move onto the Reformer – (Mat teachers don’t worry! This is about teaching the body in front of you not what piece of equipment you are on!)

Observing the body in front of us we will make decisions as to what exercises to teach next.

In this 3 hour workshop we will discover how the Cadillac provides support for your beginner clients.
The Cadillac is an essential piece of apparatus for your beginners as it allows us to strengthen the body and get rid of those aches and pains! It is the perfect piece for all of your clients.
You will discover the go to exercises to release back pain and the essential moves to strengthen and lengthen the whole body.

The Basics of the Chairs and Barrels

Discover the Basic exercises on the Chairs and Barrels that are good for everyone!
In this 3 hour workshop we will work through some of the essential barrel and chair exercises that will help to transform your body. Using the Chairs and the Barrels regularly in your workout will strengthen and lengthen the body in exciting new ways.
We will then take it back to the Mat to feel the difference it can make!

The Arm Chair, Joe Pilates invented

What a wonderful work!

The Arm Chair was introduce to me by Mr. Jay Grimes in Pisa, Italy this May 2015 and Mr. Jay Grimes from www.vintage.com when I have the opportunity to have a private lesson with him.  As everybody knows regarding my cervical spine conditions and surgery and Mr. Jay remember exactly how was and how big was my fear…

The great energy and the contagious smile of Mr. Jay made me feel relax and I was so exited to have him as a my teacher this time; after long fly and was the first student starting a day before of the official opening date give me the feeling that all what I am been waiting for the last 20 months is going to give me the fruits and greenery my own path as a eternal pilates student.

Mr. Jay Grimes give a marvelous advice regarding my body and invalance and of course he said to me “Luz you are thinking too much”.  Mr. Jay knows I was terrified to fail or do something wrong… I know I did what I was available to do and just my body memories knows from then until now.

Deep inside of me I know he was right… so now  I am just move and of course breathing.  Enjoying and getting stronger every day.

To have the opportunity to be under Mr. Jay Grimes a Master Teacher and The Elder and eyes, has been a perfect moment in my path. opening more, reaching more, and get connected again and again.  My cervical spine was free of stiffness and my shoulder more relaxed. And I discovered my back again!

Every single day I am learning something new, something that made me feel that with perseverance and a lot of patience we can reach our own goal and share the marvelous experience.

Today we have the Arm Chair at the Luzlife, Private Classical Pilates Studio here in Qatar, and is part of my own Pilates training and learning with Amy Kellow that we meet every week 2 or 3 times by Skype lesson and learning all over again.  I am calling DETOX and go SIMPLE.

We always we can do something extra to improve our daily life be more healthy from inside out. Improve our own acknowledge about hour body, mind and spirit.

Walking Meditation practice at Classical Pilates Convention

My answer is Yes!

walking meditation – is a form of the expression of our mind and body to clean and detox the path; connecting with the five elements and restoring the internal organs;  listening the movements and changes of the flow, be aware of the present moment; is a form of meditation in action in movement.  And Pilates is Movements so I did!

I choose one of my Private Pilates Sessions and I decided to be in contact with the Nature, early morning, fresh and green start; hugging a trees, and just trying to keep the silence and listening my breathing.  Be tune with the Universe and what your body need is one of my fundamental.  Stay simple real and be still.  I was awesome experience! I am sure that we enjoy it!

Enjoying the silence and just breathing and listening the heart.  My teacher was with me and hope she enjoyed too.

Walking meditation we use the experience of walking as our focus. We become mindful of our experience while walking, and try to keep our awareness involved with the experience of walking. Actually, there are several different kinds of walking meditation. We’ll just be looking at one of them in detail, although we’ll touch on the others. Once you’ve mastered one form, you’ll easily be able to pick up the others.

Obviously, there are some differences between walking meditation and sitting meditation. For one thing we keep our eyes open during walking meditation! That difference implies other changes in the way we do the practice. We are not withdrawing our attention from the outside world to the same extent that we do when we are doing the Mindfulness of Breathing or Metta Bhavana (development of lovingkindness) practices.

I was in LA, USA last week participating in the Spring Camp at Vintage Pilates; where the teachers are more than teachers; really friends and they are teaching what Joe Pilates said.

Meeting the first generation of Pilates student was a gift for my path and I am sharing with all my clients here in Qatar for over 9 years.

Reaching a good level of movement; working with my own imbalance and moving forward every day is my goal at that point.

I am having at my side amazing teachers like Amy Kellow, Andrea Maida, Karen Frishmann, Sandy Shimoda, Sandy Sarnoff, Dena Drotar, Ken Krech, Suzanne McHugh Parker, Melanie Petri and Mr. Jay Grimes.

Having new Pilates friends and much love and kindness from everywhere made me feel that everything is possible when the universe is allowing us to move forward fearless and strong.

I believe that we are our own master and we need to stay connected with our body mind and soul.

Learning from Mr. Jay Grimes; what Joe Pilates did and said is a blessing in my own path as a Pilates Student and of course nourish my personal life.

Connected to our spine muscles, our head with the rest of the body, breathing and using the right muscles, lifting our stomach muscles, feeling the push and pull in each movement, resist the gravity and be present in each single exercise that Joe Pilates was teaching.

Learning every movement we are able to imprint what our body needs in order to achieve the physical fitness for healthy body and healthy mind.
