I was in LA, USA last week participating in the Spring Camp at Vintage Pilates; where the teachers are more than teachers; really friends and they are teaching what Joe Pilates said.

Meeting the first generation of Pilates student was a gift for my path and I am sharing with all my clients here in Qatar for over 9 years.

Reaching a good level of movement; working with my own imbalance and moving forward every day is my goal at that point.

I am having at my side amazing teachers like Amy Kellow, Andrea Maida, Karen Frishmann, Sandy Shimoda, Sandy Sarnoff, Dena Drotar, Ken Krech, Suzanne McHugh Parker, Melanie Petri and Mr. Jay Grimes.

Having new Pilates friends and much love and kindness from everywhere made me feel that everything is possible when the universe is allowing us to move forward fearless and strong.

I believe that we are our own master and we need to stay connected with our body mind and soul.

Learning every movement we are able to imprint what our body needs in order to achieve the physical fitness for healthy body and healthy mind.

The Swan Dive – Learning to Fly and Enjoying It! at LuzLife Pilates and Yoga Studio here in Qatar


In our personal practise the Swan is often one of those exercises that challenge us as individuals and therefore challenges the way we teach.

In this 3 hour workshop we will delve into the way the body should move in extension and why it is a healthy movement when taught correctly.

Starting on the Mat we will look at the Swan Dive in its entirety and learn how to teach it safely and in a way to help strengthen the back. You will explore extension in your own body so that you feel the difference and understand how to teach it more effectively.

We will look at how the Swan and similar extension exercises develop around the system and where you can use variations to develop a better understanding.

By the end of the workshop you will be flying high!

2.- Pay before commencement of sessions; Clearing your pending payment is mandatory

3.- Stay motivated and be ready for Move; ask your teacher if you need it!  Feedback is always welcome and is honey for the mind and body.

4.- Be respectful with the equipments; Clean and organize equipment and apparatus after use; we have special organic and friendly with the Planet for this purpose

5.- Bath, use deodorant and no strong perfumes before sessions

6.- Wear clean, loose fitting clothing and wear sock just to be used at the inside of the studio or special Pilates or Yoga socks.

7.- Collecting your belonging and dispose of used towels provided by the Studio in the special basket after each session

8.- Reconfirm next appointment before departing.

Classical Pilates  and Yin Yoga  integrates a series of exercises that promotes physical, mental and emotional well being addressing the two main concerns of society today: fitness and stress.

Modern lifestyles have grown increasingly less active and more stressful, impacting quality of life.  The pace of today’s society, the worldwide aging population, and the now-public awareness of the mind-body connection has created an increasing interest in Yin Yoga and Pilates as a mindful programs.

The Classical Pilates Method is based on a full, integrated system of equipment – the Mat exercises are just part of the technique; only 25 % of the Pilates exercises can be performed on a Mat.

The equipment works better and faster to change our body memories and keep you at the present moment;  as the varying springs provide support and resistance that allow an individual to enhance their core connection in a way that is difficult to do on the Mat alone.

Because of this, the equipment allows one to shape, tone, lengthen and align the body differently from that of the Mat work.  In short, the equipment works better and faster to change our entire body.

Science shows that the body needs to learn how to move correctly.  The ability to perceive movement properly is rarely emphasized in modern society, allowing dysfunction to develop.  While the brain recognizes basic movement patterns, it does not naturally focus on muscles or muscle groups or know how to sequentially build upon basic patterns of movement in a healthy way.

After this workshop with Sebastian and Murielle, I was feeling emotionally and physically different, more clear and calmed, more peace in my heart helping me to embrace the present moment. Working with the Life Force bringing our internal organs to the balance and harmony that we need.

Clean up the fears, anger and negative emotions to reach the inner peace and moving fearless in this Planet.

Today I am moving with freedom, taking care of my Liver and all my internal organs to keep the internal harmony taking care of my emotions and detoxing my path.

Ancient Taoists viewed the life as energy and referred to powerful life forces as spirits. The planets Jupiter, Mars, Venus, Mercury and Saturn, and their related directions, East, South, West, North and Center, were considered potent life forces or spirits, because internal organs correspond to planets. Their related directions were also referred to as spirits. Planetary spirit is internal organ spirit, and internal organ spirit is human spirit.
Taoist cultivate arts, including nei dan (internal alchemy), developing conscious awareness of the undivided connection between these five spirits or aspects of life, allowing a profound experience of one’s true nature.

Meeting with the Pilates Lineage

Dear friends!

I will be in London from October 1st to October 6th, 2014 for be part of the Classical Pilates Convention in London.


The original Eighth Avene Pilates Studio in Manhattan bore the first generation of Pilates Teachers and now meeting the with the Pilates Lineage in UK.

Joseph Pilates developed his work from a strong personal experience in fitness. Unhealthy as a child, Joseph Pilates studied many kinds of self-improvement systems. He drew from Eastern practices and Zen Buddhism, and was inspired by the ancient Greek ideal of man perfected in development of body, mind and spirit. On his way to developing the Pilates Method, Joseph Pilates studied anatomy and developed himself as a body builder, a wrestler, gymnast, boxer, skier and diver.

My own experience with Pilates is one of the best way to move and be present.

Joseph Pilates and the movement of animals

Joseph spent hours in the woods studying the movement of animals.

Joe was born in Munchen-Glebach, a small town near Dusseldorf Germany in 1880. He was a very sickly child suffering from asthma, rickets and rheumatic fever. He was taunted by other children and was unable to defend himself, which inspired his journey to fitness and health. Joseph spent hours in the woods studying the movement of animals and memorizing an anatomy book his physician had given him. By the age of 14, he was modeling for anatomy charts and continued developing his physical fitness through boxing, skiing, diving and gymnastics.

In 1914 after WWI broke out, he was interned in an “enemy alien camp” in Lancaster. It was here that he began to develop the Pilates Method of Exercise known then as Contrology. He was then transferred to another camp in The Isle of Man. While working here as a nurse, he developed his exercise equipment using bed springs and other apparatus.

In 1925, he came to the United States and while on the ship he met his wife, Clara. Upon arriving in New York City, they opened a studio at 939 8th Avenue. Famous choreographers and dancers studied with Joe for their training and rehab work (George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Martha Graham). Additionally, many movie stars studied with him as well (Vivien Leigh, Sir Lawrence Olivier, Katherine Hepburn).

In January 1966, there was a fire in his building. Joe returned to his studio to fight the fire, but fell through the burnt out floorboards hanging for some time until rescued by firefighters. He later died in October 1967, at the age of 87, due to complications attributed to this incident. Clara continued to run the studio for the next 10 years until her death in 1976. A longtime teacher and student, Romana Kryzanowska, took over the business and dedicated her life to teaching Joe’s work.
