Today celebrating 3 months after facing very complex surgery.  Positive Mind and determination; sharing with you my new Path. Sharing this note; that one of my lovely client and friend Rowland Hayler; send to me few days ago.

Riding the roads of Qatar can be perilous for a number of reasons.  If you survive a ride without experiencing severe dehydration and/or getting crushed by a 4×4 as the driver speeds through one of the many roundabouts – well done!

Of course, there are alternatives: (1) don’t ride at all, (2) ride in the middle of the night, (3) ride an indoor trainer in your own air conditioned home, or (4) attend spin classes.  I decided on option (4) although I didn’t entirely give up my long-ish (100 mile) weekend aerobic road rides altogether!

After about a month in Qatar, I started attending spin classes at the Sheraton Hotel.  These classes were led by Luz Lovern and were typically one hour long, held 3 times per week.  The classes proved to be a lifeline for me.  The routines were mixed, session to session with great music and a fun group of class mates of diverse backgrounds.  Having attended many spin classes in the past, it soon became clear that Luz is indeed a rare talent.  A truly inspirational person and class leader, who pitched her sessions in such a way that they were valuable to riders of all experience and skills.

During the year that I was in Qatar, I regularly attended all Luz’s classes, 3 times per week – she also provided me with excellent nutrition advice and during this time I attained my lowest ever adult racing weight.  Even today when I’m maxxed out & hurting like hell in the red zone, I remember the greatest advice she ever provided – “stay in the moment”.  It goes through my head like a mantra and I’ve successfully dealt with a lot of tough situations (on & off the bike) with this gestalt advice in mind!

All in all it was a really fulfilling experience, and although I left Qatar in 2009, I’m really pleased that Luz & I continue to stay in regular contact through the power of social media!  I only wish I could still attend her classes!!

New Path of LuzLife

I have a changed perspective. It’s time to move on to more meaningful pursuits.

In 1997 I had a outdoor cycling accident and trauma in my neck. At that time was ok. Time has past and my body finally past me the bill.

Today, July 31, 2013 after 10 weeks from cervical spine Fusion c4 – c5 – c6 to mend my body and mind back to good condition.

I did not have alternative and I my neck was in very bad shape because of over use.

I was having numbness and weakness in my upper limbs. I was with other spines doctors and physiotherapy in Qatar, but without good result.

I need to say that all new X-ray and new MRI showed that my Cervical Spine vertebrates was collapsing. I was experiencing numbness and paralysis of my left side in April of this year. Taking pain killers from a very wrong diagnosis…

in May 4 of this year, it became more severe and I was here in Bangkok for training in Pilates and I was paralyzed again in my room.

This time I was in the very capable hands of doctors at Bumrungrad International Hospital with its amazing team of Spine doctors. They have all my respect!

The diagnosis was immediate surgery to avoid paralyze or death.

I was so shocked, sad and terrified by this news. I did my own search and the answer was the same. I was so sad to see myself so vulnerable.

Now, after 10 weeks of surgery, i’m getting my life back, my job, my loved one and facing day by day with very positive attitude.

I am glad to be in my own skin. To be a Yoga Teacher for so many years has helped me to apply every second the 8 limbs of Yoga. To be mindful and be aware of the kick ass yoga instructors; I can not guaranty if we can call themselves Yoga practitioners or even yoga instructors.

As a Pilates senior teacher, thanks to my strong core and determination I am moving again. Pilates is great for the power house, not to much for my CI Pilates principals for injury

Indoor cycling and others way of cardiovascular exercise are great when our mind and body are in union with the Devine.

Learning Alexander Technique and practice in my own emotional impact and how on those areas are affected by fear its always good to observe ourselves first…

Learning healing tools like Shiatsu, stretching massage and aroma therapy, music therapy to complement my own training to share with all of you.

Sharing the real experience is always better to pretend to be when we are far way to be human and caring for others. Honestly good foundation is the root of the true loving kindness. Far away from ego; very close to our loving heart. After all that made us a real beautiful and mindful.

Why Spiritual Fitness?

I have always understood the health and mental well being that comes with being an active person. If I went for a week without doing anything sporting that raised my heart rate and made me sweat, I could feel the lethargy and depression setting in. Over a year ago, my exercise regime included kickboxing and weight lifting and I felt on top of the world.

Then I had to undergo two emergency surgeries which put an end to my active life. It was a crushing feeling, not being able to move my body easily and feeling bloated and helpless. I saw the weight pile on, I was in pain for most of the time and my self-esteem plummeted. My recovery was taking so long that I lost hope of ever feeling good about myself.

I approached Luz to help me manage the back pain I was experiencing after my surgery. Through her brand of pilates, experience and knowledge, we were able to reduce the pain within two weeks. I also found my confidence was coming back because I was moving my body again. As the sessions went on, I started to see a change in my body shape and weight. It’s been 3 months since I started working with Luz, and now I can confidently say my back pain is gone and I’ve regained tone in my body that I had lost after the surgeries. Yes, I ‘m feeling on top of the world again.

Luz has also helped me understand the importance of being fit to help the body recover. If I had not been an active person before the surgeries, I would not have bounced back as easily and as fast. I may not be able to go back to kickboxing or weightlifting, but Luz has taught me other ways to stay fit, in shape and feeling great!

Learning and growing from my own experience…

Usually I don’t share much about my own personal life.  I Always tray to be a good example and guide to all of you…

The last 24 hours many things have happened in my life; including a MRI in my brain and Cervical Spine.

What I try to impress  here is how life bring us challenging moments time to time.  Like self-training to be patient, to be grounded and to be optimistic.

Well now, I am not sure if I pass all this test successfully?  but I always found the love and contort in true friends that really love not matter what happens.  and who are always there with loving and kind words to give mourishment and love.

Was I ready for that? Not really? No way! I spend some time lost in translation with my self.  In another way I was ready for that any way…

I can teach now being more acknowledgeable of life, suffering, pain, feeling of loneliness and facing fear as a Peaceful Warrior.

And exactly yesterday when I was waiting for my MRI in my Brain, I got this amazing gift of rewards, gift of luck, gift to all this time I am dedicating my life to all of you.
