Many injuries are caused by muscular imbalances within our bodies, also we injure our body when we tense or move without being present and fully aware of the movements.

And many things cause these imbalances, our posture, our breath, our emotions, our state of mind, the way we walk, bend over, sit, lie down, or work out, we sleep, we talk…  basically the way we move. Most of us move incorrectly in some way or another, which puts too much pressure on some muscles and weakens others, causing an imbalance, causing unnecessary stress and using the wrong muscles.

In Yin Yoga we put emphasis on releasing our Thoracic lumbar fascia, breathing, relax our mind and let our body talk and communicate with us; is magnificent the experience I have in my own physical and emotional rehabilitation after 14 months of ACS with Diseconomy.

The way that we move may put too much pressure on the spine, hips, while weakening the pelvic muscles in the front of the body.  Either scenario creates an imbalance, which means the body is much more perceptible to serious strains, pulls, tears or worse.

Yin Yoga and Pilates exercises promote an even musculature throughout the body by strengthening the Hips area, Sacrum, Core, Spine, upper limbs and lower limbs.  As a Pilates and Yoga Teacher always I like to think that our body is a Peace of Art, no matter what is going on with us at the present moment, we are a unique and we all have the capacity to embrace the present, we are ONE!  The Power House is considered the “center” of the body and consists of the deep abdominal muscles along with the muscles closest to the spine. And also as everybody know me I just redefine the Power House as a Unit and our entire body, mind and spirit.  You can read about that in my past post.

Working also with Yin Yoga principales helping to release the tension created by my own traumatic experience.  Realizing fiscally and emotional my entire humanity.  That why I give to Yin Yoga all the credibility because prepare your body for the Pilates as a Yang exercise.  As we know Yin and Yang are part of our inner Universe.  As the Universe is outside is also from within.

Al LuzLife Private Studio we works with all the Pilates equipment necessary for help to give the necessary energies to spinal and pelvic alignment, which is critical in getting us to move the way we are supposed to move to avoid injury.

Based on the approach to the principles of Pilate repertoire, breathing, core strength, an even musculature, also working with Fascia release and deeper stretching of the joins.

Another reason is that it provides a greater degree of flexibility than most conventional forms of physical therapy. This is true because Pilates and Yin Yoga exercises can be modified for each person and still be extremely effective. You can go from basic movements to very advanced, depending on how a patient needs to progress or how badly they are injured.  LuzLife Studio will take care of you.

Namaste.

9 Steps in Handling a Rude Client

9 Steps in Handling a Rude Client

Most clients are polite and thoughtful and realize that even though they are paying you for the service you provide, it’s a 2 way street and they need your service, otherwise, they would not be using you. However, there are some clients who feel because they are paying you, they can be disrespectful or rude. At other times, a client is entitled to get angry if things go wrong at your end. You’re in business to serve your clients and it is up to you to deal with them angry or not. So how do you effectively deal with a rude or angry client?

1. Stay Calm. Take a deep breath and if the client says something disrespectful, don’t take it personally. If they are rude, it is not about you, it is because the situation has annoyed them. If you, in turn, raise your temper, it will just make the client more agitated and will escalate the situation. If you are respectful and stay cool, it will most likely calm the client down to some extent.

2. Listen Carefully and try to put yourself in her shoes. Maybe the client is having personal problems and needs to take it out to someone. Maybe her boss screams at her so she is screaming at you. The best thing to do is to acknowledge her feelings and tell her you completely understand why she is upset. Connecting and feeling your clients’ annoyance will instantly help them feel better and show them you are there to help.

3. Repeat the Problem. By repeating the problem to your clients you show them that you have been listening and that you understand the problem. Also, ask a number of questions to make sure you have no doubt about what they are telling you. Doing this in a calm manner will go a long way to helping them understand that you know what the issues are and also help clarify any misunderstanding that may exist. Sometimes clients do not initially express the full extent of the problem – only the part that makes them most angry.

4. Get to the Root of the Matter. Write down notes while the client is screaming at you so you can direct the conversation towards providing solutions. Ignore insults and tackle the issue at hand.

5. Apologize. Whether the clients’ concern is legitimate or not, you have to sincerely apologize. Show them that you are really sorry about the problem they are having. Make it a simple and straightforward statement. If you are apologizing by e-mail, make sure you don’t try to justify yourself.

6. Offer a Solution. If you know the problem and have a solution, offer it to the client. If you need to check things out before you can solve the problem, tell them that you will get back to them in an hour or two at the most so at least it gives you time to see how the problem can be fixed. If you leave your clients hanging or dissatisfied by not doing much about the problem, you can be sure they are not going to be your clients for very much longer.

7. Give Incentive/Compensation. In the even there is no solution, offer a compromise or compensation to make sure your clients do not remain angry. To further appease your clients, you can also offer a token that they will appreciate receiving. This shows yours and your company’s goodwill and calms the situation.

8. Never Resort to a War of Words. Throwing insults at each other will never result in a solution and only escalate the problems further.

9. Follow Up. Finally follow up with the client. Once the problem has been fixed, follow up to make sure that your client is happy with the solution or the compensation. In the event that you think the client is a habitual complainer and may complain again if you call him/her, you can even send him/her a handwritten note of apology. Sometimes this extra little act of following up makes a client feel valued and heard.

After the situation has been resolved, it’s helpful for you to take a little “time out” from the stressful experience. Rather than let that stress linger inside you, take a short walk, treat yourself to a snack or find someone who makes you laugh. Then you’ll be ready once again to engage with your clients.

Sitting tall with balance

LuzLife is introducing in her Studio the Balance Cushion to Strengthen Core Stability and to have happy spine.

As a Spiritual Fitness Instructor, I like to introduce and share with you our very own experiences in our private  Studio here in Qatar.  For weeks I have kept a e Balance Cushion in a chair and I asked to my students use it and to give feedback.  And the results are all good news!

All was agree that the balance cushion works to improve balance, pelvic floor and core strength and  the Power House, improving the posture.  So now I am making the Balance Cushion available to selected students to continue the practice in their own home.

Just sitting on balance cushion encourages active and dynamic sitting, helping to the hip and sacroiliac joints to decrease the tension. The Balance Cushion is placed directly onto the chair in your home or office or any place that you will be seating for long hours, which means that the body has to make continuous small movements to correct balance and correct our posture and release the tension that we create in our upper back, shoulder and entire body. These movements that we use are simple and efficient to help strengthen the deep core stabilizing muscles which provide postural support to the body, breathing with freedom and our mind is more present and we can be more connected from within.

am experiencing and testing the cushion myself to demonstrate that what the advertisements say is true and yes it worksIt’s also easy to carry, and has benefits similar to the medicine ball that you may have at home or your work place or maybe in your storage…

The best way to use a stability cushion to improve core strength and posture is to simply to sit on it for short periods during the day.  It is still possible to slouch when sitting on a stability cushion so it remains important to be aware of maintaining a good sitting posture.  That way we can avoid many injuries and misalignment in our marvelous spine, joints, and our entire body will get the benefit.

Healthy sitting, healthy spine, peaceful mind!

Pilates Reformer Footwork at LuzLife Studio is focusing in help and restore the physical fitness of your Foots and entire body; and I like to calling our healing our Roots.

The toe exerciser is a strengthening and correcting device using at LuzLife Studio by Luz, senior Pilates Teacher and teaching the Pilates Reformer Footwork Repertoire.  Some people have reported that it helps correct bunions.  And that is great feeling of accomplished that we can give solution to our Mind, Body and Soul.

The toe exerciser can be used as to strengthen the toe joints and align them as seen here. There are also exercises where one foot rotates away from the other, stretching the toe exerciser and increasing strength of the joint.

If you find the toe exercise beneficial you might want a real toe exerciser. I found them available online from Gratz Pilates,  is what we have at LuzLife Studio here in Qatar.

A Few Final Thoughts on The Benefits of Strengthening the Feet with Pilates Reformer Footwork

Not only will effective Reformer Footwork help strengthen the muscles of the feet, but the entire lower leg will get stronger and learn to work more correctly.

Which in the long run is helping to train correct foot and ankle action for the roll-through-the-foot required for good gait work to walk & run, cycling and simple walk and any activity of your daily life.

Learning to get the length needed to work your “Flipper Toes” increases joint space for improved flexibility of the toes, as well as helping to increase mobility at the ankle.

Increased ankle mobility allows more reach through the heels with helps stretch the calf and lengthens the Achilles tendon to reduce your risk of injury.

Pilates Reformer Footwork done well can be a very valuable asset to your foot health, and is helping to train your feet to work well.    With flexible Pilates feet will remember what it felt like to work well, transferring these well-trained muscle habits back to your everyday life activities.

Hello Universe!

Yoga for Compassion

at LuzLife Studio in Qatar

Barbara Moreno our Yogini and Yoga Teacher is giving as a beautiful and organic way to approach Yoga practice to help and release the emotional and physical tension that we can create.  Learning to Breathing and relax our mind.

Meaning of Karuna (compassion): Karuna is related to the word karma. It is the intention and capacity to relieve and transform suffering, to lighten sorrow. While the word karuna is generally “translated as “compassion,” which literally means to suffer with,” Thich Nhat Hanh, the Buddhist monk and teacher, has pointed out that we don’t need to suffer ourselves in order to alleviate the suffering of another person. Doctors, for instance, do not have to suffer illness in order to relieve their patients’ pain. The Buddha described karuna as the “quivering of the heart” we experience when we are open and able to truly see suffering and are moved to do something about it.

Promoting physical, mental and emotional Well Being

150 150 LuzLife

“Contrology (Pilates) is complete coordination of body, mind and spirit.  Contrology develops the body uniformly, corrects wrong postures, restores physical vitality, invigorates the mind and elevates the spirit” Pilates’ Return to Life Through Contrology

2014-06-11 06.47.49-1Pilates and Yin Yoga integrate well to create a series of exercises that promote physical, mental and emotional well being addressing the two main concerns of society today: fitness and stress.
Unknown-1 Modern lifestyles have grown increasingly less active and more stressful, impacting quality of life. The pace of today’s society, the worldwide aging population, and the now-public awareness of the mind-body connection has created an increasing interest in Yin Yoga and Pilates as mindful programs.
The Classical Pilates Method is based on an ample, integrated system of equipment. The mat exercises are only part of the technique, i.e. only 25 % of the Pilates exercises can be performed on a mat.

2014-06-11 09.18.19-1 The equipment works better and faster to change our body memories and keep you at the present moment, as the varying springs provide support and resistance that allow an individual to enhance his/her core connection in a way that is difficult to do on the mat alone.

Because of this, the equipment allows one to shape, tone, lengthen and align the body differently from that of the mat.  In short, the equipment works better and faster to change the body.

2014-06-11 06.49.27-1
Practice shows that the body needs to learn how to move correctly. The ability to perceive movement properly is rarely emphasized in modern society, allowing dysfunction to exacerbate.  While the brain recognizes basic movement patterns, it does not naturally focus on muscles or muscle groups or know how to sequentially build upon basic patterns of movement in a healthy way.2014-06-11 06.48.29-1

LuzLife Total Pilates by Luz A. Lovern provides are wonderful tools to enhance your modern life; providing Private and Semi-private sessions that will strengthen and stretch muscles, restore muscular and physical balance, provide efficiency of movement, and build endurance by employing Meditation and working with the Principals of Yin Yoga.  Movement relies upon the synchronization of the muscles throughout the entire kinematic chain, and improves the nervous system’s ability to initiate and control all movement patterns easily by rote.  LuzLife Total Pilates, improves stability and balance by promoting the nervous system’s awareness of the our body and helps in the rehabilitation of our Physical and Spiritual Machine.

2014-06-11 09.40.18-1

Just had a fantastic private lesson with Luz. Excellent focus on the mind – body connection , engaging the core at all times. As a result my alignment has improved so much as has my core strength. It’s really made a difference to my lower back which at times had been a bit of problem. Can’t wait for my next lesson !!! by Julia Key.

Yin Yoga and Pilates, both yin and yang forms of exercise are necessary, and they supplement each other.  Life bring both energies to work together in harmony and balance from within.

Much love and light!
